What is the Goodyear 4x4 Academy?

The Goodyear 4x4 Academy operates from Klipbokkop Mountain Resort and specialises in 4x4 training on a wide variety of terrains. International and local clients are exposed to Goodyear’s Wrangler Range where it is tested on the most extreme terrains, differing from large sand dunes to rocks, mud and a natural skidpan. Klipbokkop is known internationally as the world leader in utilising these conditions in a natural environment. Guests stay in 20 luxury en-suite fully air-conditioned rooms. The whole resort is air-cooled for the Worcester summer heat. It also has a diesel generator on standby. The academy has trained people from 21 countries worldwide.

Group 4x4 Training - Corporate Bookings

The training takes place in a group only context with rates depending on the size of the group. The training course can be adjusted according to the specific needs of each group. Special incentive programs can be arranged for larger groups. Upon completion of the training, you will receive a certificate from the Goodyear Academy.

Group 4x4 Training - Individual Bookings

Training can be booked on an individual basis and will take place in a small group context (normally about 3 – 5 vehicles) on specified dates.  Please contact the office for the next available training date.  The small group training is always very effective, as so much is learnt from each other’s questions, mistakes and accomplishments and, since groups are small, quality training is ensured.

The duration of the course is from 10:00 until about 15:30 – 16:00 and includes about 1.5 hours of theory and then practical driving for the rest of the day.  The practical driving includes a bit of everything, e.g. ascents/descents, recovery and mostly sand driving.

Upon completion of the training, you will receive a certificate from the Goodyear Academy.

One-on-One training

Private training can be arranged.  Please contact the office for the next available training date.

Incentive Trips

Klipbokkop specialises in incentives trips to enhance the overseas visitor’s experience of South Africa.

Incentives trips are tailor-made to suit your needs. Trips vary between 2-5 days.

Incentive trips may include 4x4 training, e.g.
