Leopard at KlipbokkopThe CLT Boland project is a field study of the Cape leopard population in the Boland Mountains. This study aims to establish the first rigorous population estimates for leopards in this region, and to identify possible conflict hotspots. The ultimate objectives of the research are to:

  • obtain baseline data necessary for ensuring the survival of leopards in the Cape mountains;
  • alleviate leopard-farmer conflict;
  • establish the presence/absence/relative abundance of resident mammal populations.

The Goodyear 4x4 Academy, situated at Klipbokkop Mountain Reserve near Worcester celebrates its 10th anniversary and took another step in formalising their training and aligning it with the new standards and requirements of SAQA (South African Qualification Authority).

The recently registered and much spoken about Unit Standards in 4x4 training (US 254135 and 254154), is registered at TETA (the Transport Education and Training Authority) and is resulting from the National Off-road Workgroup (NOW), a Department of Environment And Tourism (DEAT) initiative that wants to regulate the 4x4 industry.  The main focus being to standardize 4x4 training and to minimize negative impact on the environment.

Groenewald FamilyKlipbokkop, owned by the Groenewald Family, obtained the mountain farm in 1994, after which the resort was opened to the public in 1998.  At Klipbokkop we strive to instil not only a greater appreciation for and awareness of the environment, the vegetation (fynbos), the plants and the animals, but also the responsibility of using vehicles in a sensitive eco-system. Klipbokkop was developed and is managed with a commitment to promote responsible and environmentally friendly tourism, and strives to attract and influence like-minded visitors.

Klipbokkop is a magnificent and majestic reserve set on the slopes of the Stettyn Mountains. It is a hidden gem, that provides sanctuary for several endangered species, and where the Fynbos shows its true beauty and diversity. The splendid panorama of mountain ranges is present in all directions, and every valley is a treat for the eye. The beauty and tranquillity of Klipbokkop is indeed extraordinary and awe inspiring.
